One of the most frequently asked questions we have been receiving lately, is which is better, the champion, omega 8001, Samson, Green Star or green power juicers?  This article will shed some light on the newest style juicer to hit the market- the single auger juicer.  I will also try to compare this juicer to the other low rpm juicers that we offer.   If you are not familiar with the types of juicers available on the market, you might want to read the article, , before reading this article.   This article deals with the lower rpm machines, which generally produce a higher quality juice (nutrients) than some of the juicers with a higher RPM.  The higher quality juice does come at a cost.. The has been around for 25+ years.  Its a very good machine, and very durable. They are practically built like tanks, with their steel cased motor.  While the juicer does work at a much higher RPM than the other two juicers we will be discussing, this is an advantage when performing certain tasks, that we will mention more about below.  The champion does have only a few parts to clean, so we rate it as "easy" to clean for the sake of this comparison.   While the champion will not juice wheatgrass, it does do a decent job on most vegetables, except leafy greens and celery- the strings get caught around the cutting blade, and leafy greens seem to come out in big pieces..  On the flip side, it probably juices fruits better than the other two juicers mentioned in this article.   For best results, SLOW down with the champion.  You will need to constantly use the PUSHER to push the food into the machine, if you don't, the food will come back up at you up the spout.  Push food in at a slow rate, and let the juicer take its time.   Pushing too much food in, too rapidly will cause it to back up, and kick out the pulp faster, resulting in less yield.  Due to the higher RPM and friction caused by the champion, we feel this is the lowest quality juice produced of the three machines in this article.  

Basically, the  and the are single auger juicers are very similiar units in design.  The literature (instructions) included with the unit may vary.  The Samson does offer a optional (about $100) sesame seed press, that is designed to heat up and crush sesame seeds into oil, (it does this at a temperature of 222 degrees F or above).  I would not recommend this attachment for doing anything else than making sesame seed oil.  Currently the Samson with a 10yr/5yr warranty and the Lequip Visor with a 6 year warranty.   When juicing with these machine, it is very important to pre-cut your produce into small pieces for best results.  We also recommend alternating soft and hard produce when feeding the juicer. (for example, if you are juicing apples and carrots, cut them up into "cubes", and feed some apple, then some carrot, then some apple, then some carrot, until its all gone).  We feel this juicer is the easiest to clean of the juicers in this comparison.  A special brush is included to assist cleaning of the screen, which is the most difficult part to clean.  This machine produces the pulpiest juice of all the juicers mentioned in this article, and its advised to use the strainer that comes with the machine.   (especially when juicing hard veggies, such as carrots and fruits).  The samson is an "upgraded" model over that of the visor.   It features  some redesigned parts, such as the auger and juicing nozzles, it also has an improved juicing screen as well as a user replaceable  fuse located in the bottom of the unit.     The lequip visor is the newest singler auger juicer to be sold on the market.  The visor has an offset feed chute (which assists in "self feeding" of produce into the machine) as well as the juicing screen has smaller holes than the  Samson.   The Newest style Single Auger is the , and has the same single auger design, but has dual juicing screens, for "better yield" according to the manufacturer, and in our tests, that looks to be accurate.   The Omega 8003 is the same as the Omega 8005 except for the color.  The 8003 is white, and the 8005 has a chrome look.  Of the dual stage juicers, the Omega 8003/Omega 8005 is easier to clean.

As you may know the is the "new and improved" model of the juicer. This juicer is more "forgiving" when juicing a wider variety of produce than the single auger unit above.   Its housing has been reinforced, and there is a 5 year warranty on the machine instead of 2 years.  For this reason, we recommend the Green Star over the green power juicer.   This juicer has the most parts to clean of the juicers in this comparison. Before I begin, one of the nice things about all these units mentioned in this article (that is not applicable to the centrifugal ejection or centrifugal machines) is that once the pulp comes out of the machine, you can take it and run it back through the machine to extract further juice, (if the pulp is still wet).   This feature results in higher yields..

We have used several twin gear juicers.  We like the Green Star and Green Power because they are versatile, and can do more than just juice.  

While the twin gear juicers work REALLY well when juicing HARD, FIBEROUS vegetables, they are not the best at juicing fruits.  If you want to juice MOSTLY fruits, we do not recommend a twin gear juicer.

How does the various   specifications listed above affect juicer function?

• Gear Length -  Longer gears provide more surface area for increased juicing efficiency.
• Gear Weight - Heavier Gears result in a stronger, more heavy-duty product.
• Gear Diameter - Larger Diameter gears can handle larger produce more easily.
• Gear Circumference - Greater circumference gives more triturating capacity per cycle.
• Rotational Speed (RPM) -  A lower rotational speed contributes to less oxidation and heating of the juice.
• Straining Screen Surface Area - Larger size allows more pulp to be squeezed for a longer time.
• Juicing Chamber size - Larger squeezing chamber allows for longer squeezing period which may increase the total amount of juice obtained from produce.
• Motor Wattage  - Higher wattage motor results in less strain on motor, and less heating of the motor, as well as increased durability.

Does the nutritional content of the juice produced vary between the Samson ultra and the Green Star/Power juicer?

The HD(Heavy Duty) Twin Gear system has been laboratory tested to show that the juice made using the the HD System (Green Star and Green Power) are longer-lived and nutritionally superior.  The smaller twin gear system does not have any substantiating evidence to back up their claims, except for the resemblance to the HD Twin gear system, and the reputation that the HD Twin Gear system has won.

What is the difference between the Green Power and the Green Star?

Green Power Juicers have 2 models that are actively marketed in U.S., which are GP E-1503 "GOLD" and GS-3000 "Green Star". GP E-1503 "GOLD" has been in the market for about 10 years and has proven its capability and function. It is a deluxe model including all options such as PASTA and MOCHI Maker. GS-3000 "Green Star", which has just been introduced into U.S. market,  also has proven its capability and function. 

GP-E1503 "GOLD" and GS-3000 "Green Star" share the same patented, twin gear juicing technology by giving maximum juice quantity with optimum nutritional value. Independent nutritional testing on juicers and freshly squeezed juice, has already shown the patented twin gear technology to be superior in extracting maximum quantity and highest quality juices from many types of produce.

Most of features including, Twin Gears, Fine Screen, Coarse Screen, Homogenizing Blank, Wooden Plunger, Plastic Plunger, etc. are all the same. Glass bowls have a little different shape but has the same quality of glass. However, housing and casing of them are different from each other in that those of the new GS-3000 "Green Star" has slightly compact.

GP-E1503 "Gold" has has 2 years warranty but the new GS-3000 has been introduced with 5 years warranty. 

We prefer the Green Star model over the Green Power model due to the longer warranty, compact design (a few inches smaller) and new stronger housing.   It also includes the pasta attachment, mochi attachment, and drip tray.   

Is there a difference in the size and power of the motor in the different twin gear juicers?

Yes, there is a difference between the motors.  Below you can see a picture of cross sections of the motors from the large HD twin gear juicer (Green Power, Green Star) and the smaller twin gear juicers (Samson Ultra, Hippocrates, and Kempo)

The Original Full Size HD Twin Gear Machines (Including the Green Power and Green Star juicer) have a 190 watt fan cooled motor with gear box using large shafts and gears.

The Small Twin Gear Machines (Including the Samson Ultra,   Hippocrates, and Kempo Juicer) have a 150 watt motor with gear box using smaller shafts and gears have a tendency to overheat (not fan cooled).

Do you offer the other small twin gear juicers? If not, why?

We choose to offer quality units at affordable prices.   Its also important to us that the manufacturer (or importer) that is selling the juicer will be around to service the juicer after it has been sold.  We firmly believe that Tribest, who manufacturers the HD twin gear juicers (Green Star and Green Power) is a reputable and solid manufactuer (They manufacturer and distribute their HD juicers).  The Small Twin Gear Machines They are made in Korea by a company called GPT and imported into the United States under a variety of names, such as:  Samson Ultra,   Hippocrates, and Kempo Juicer.  They are all basically the same juicer with a few minor variations.  We decided to offer the Samson Ultra juicer since the importer (Green Bison, has a proven track record with its service and has been in business selling juicers longer than the other importers).
